Rain Probability Likely to Play Spoilsport on Makar Sankranti

winterNew Delhi, Tuesday, January 13 – People in the capital woke up to clear morning on Tuesday. Enormous sunshine put a ceiling on the wintry feel which gained foothold in the city late afternoon a day ago. Monday was a tad hazy and all of a sudden intensity of iciness augmented as soon as the sun hid behind the clouds.

Amid sunlit day today, none can probably think of witnessing showers on Makar Sankranti, a harvest festival celebrated in different states. As per latest available reports, rainfall could play spoilsport on the festive day. Being an occasion when hundreds of thousands of devotees usually take the holy dip in the river and offer prayers to glorious Sun-God, colder climatic conditions may restrict a few to stay indoors.

Kite-flying momentum is also probable to be toned down by the untimely showers. Maximum and minimum temperatures for today will be 16 and 8 degree Celsius and these will drop to 14 and 7 degree Celsius, respectively, the very next day. 60 per cent chance of precipitation remains on the cards. Humidity will go up to 73 per cent. The speed of the wind will be maximum on Wednesday as gust is supposed to blow at the pace of 16 km per hour.

Partly cloudy day is forecasted for the entire week. Fog may come back in the city post precipitation in the metropolis. A slight respite lies on the fact that sunbeams may appear in the latter half. As of now, the possibility of downpour to lash the Delhi streets is strong.
