Rain Forecast Turns True as Morning Showers Add to Shiver in Delhi

winter 1 roadNew Delhi, Wednesday, January 14 – Rain forecast in the mid-week and on the occasion of Makar Sankranti turned absolutely true in the national capital. Most of the Delhi regions were witnessing clear sky from past several days and expecting showers all of a sudden was nowhere in the general public’s mindset. The Delhiites seem to have no quick respite from the wintry atmosphere in the near future as partly cloudy day and cold waves are set to add to the shiver.

In view of the fact that rain lashed the streets in the early hours on Wednesday, the extremity of winter season is not apparent as of now. Overcast sky today gave the clear hit that escape from frosty feel isn’t possible at all. The city has been making records for witnessing dipping temperatures. In fact, the metropolis recorded the coldest day of 2015 to this point at 4 degree Celsius a day ago. Bonfires were lit by the people who wanted to stay away from experiencing the extreme chill and to keep themselves warm from head to toe.

Maximum and minimum temperatures for this week are supposed to vary in the range of 14 & 16 and 5 & 7 degree Celsius, respectively. Speed of the wind today may go up to 19 km per hour. Power outages for an hour or two during the noontime and late night are already creating troubles for the masses. Rainfall and wind may be held responsible if frequent power cut will be observed today as well.

People will have to cover themselves in layers to steer clear of falling ill due to cold. Amid weather reports, they might get a slight breather as probability of shower is not visible till late January.  On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, rain, as predicted earlier, played spoilsport. Delhi and NCR inhabitants woke up to icy morning and waited for sun to appear to offer prayers. Enthusiasm for kite flying is likely to get killed thanks to forecast for 10 percent rain and 90 percent humidity. Sunshine could only come to their rescue but this seems improbable at this point of time due to scattered clouds.

Rain in Shimla will also bring the iciness in Delhi. Tourists enjoy snowfall in winters not the precipitation, however, what they get to see is the latter one. Movement of the vehicles may get affected in Delhi if downpour continues to happen. A drop in mercury has been registered in Lucknow, Varanasi, Jaipur, Allahabad and Kanpur too. Health experts kept on advising populace to put on woolen clothes to protect themselves against the biting cold. There may be no fog cover but frosty air is all set to hit the final nail in the coffin which. “Rather than suffocating the body with thick garments, it is far better to dress in thin layers”, they said further.
