Indian Cricketers Shine against United Arab Emirates at Perth; Inflict 9-wicket Defeat on Rivals

india new odiNew Delhi, Monday, March 2 – Scenario at W.A.C.A. Ground, Perth, was not same as that of Melbourne, wherein India made South Africans believe they still got to practice a little bit more whenever a contest is slated to take place between them, but one thing was similar and that was the victory in the pocket of Men In Blue. Despite low audience strength in the stand, Indian camp did its job by sealing the hat-trick of victories in the cricket carnival.

United Arab Emirates won the toss and elected to bat. Had Indian skipper been at the place of UAE captain, he would have had made the same decision, lending a hand to all his teammates do some more practice on the pitch which could further help them in the upcoming games. Indians weren’t in form prior to the World Cup contest. The majority expected it incapable to register victory against strong contestants. However, self-motivation and perhaps the spirit to change the game worked for dynamic cricketers of the nation.

Before thrashing Proteas almost a week ago, they sent arch-rivals Pakistan on the back foot. It was the team efforts and, of course, huge fan base in the stadium that boosted confidence of Indian cricketers to do well in opposition to their biggest competitors. The level of confidence was up on Saturday too wherein they restricted UAE at a minimal total of 102 and celebrated for a massive show. Bowlers bowled in accurate line and length. With one change in the team, Dhoni’s boys came on the field. Mohammed Shami was replaced by Bhuvneshwar Kumar due to an injury in leg. And Kumar did his bit to a certain extent giving 19 runs in 5 overs and taking a wicket.

United Arab Emirates’ knock started with a shock given that three of its players Amjad Ali, Andri Berenger and Krishna Chandran were out at 4 runs apiece, throwing their wickets to Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin, respectively. Khurram Khan made efforts to bring some stability but had to be back into the pavilion post scoring 14 runs of 28 balls which included a boundary. Wicketkeeper-batsman Swapnil Patil though hit a four, but accumulated 7 run of 14 balls. Shaiman Anwar was the leading scorer from United Arab Emirates. His 35-run knock included 6 fours, but the cricketer was dismissed by Umesh Yadav before he could have gotten for some more confident shots. Both Rohan Mustafa and Amjad Javed were out at 2.

The new batsman Mohammad Naveed had to depart after failing to read an amazing delivery by Ashwin, who was the hero in India vs. UAE match with 4 wickets and a haul of 25 runs. Mohammad Tauqir did not succeed to exhibit an outstanding show and take the pressure away from his team. He only added a single to the UAE’s total. Manjula Guruge remained unbeaten at 10 runs. Playing pivotal role to make India smell success sooner than expected, Indian bowling attack compelled the opponents to collapse at 102 runs. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan came on the pitch to kick of Indians’ innings. Motto was certainly to spend as much time as they can on the crease. However, Dhawan turned a victim of brilliant catch. The fort was then held by Rohit Sharma, who stayed not out at 57 at 55 balls (4 x 10 and 6 x 1), and Virat Kohli, who scored 33 of 41 balls (4 x 5).

Ajinkya Rahane, who is in good form in the ongoing tournament, Suresh Raina, captain cool Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav did not even need to bat since the feeble total was easily chased by the batting duo within short span of time. India crushed UAE by 9 wickets, improving the average and totaling 6 points on the points table. Dhoni-led Indian team will now compete against West Indies on Friday, March 6. Having one of the most destructive player Chris Gayle in the group, the Caribbeans are somehow confident to of doing well. But taking no notice of Indian bowlers could be the biggest mistake they make.

Before the beginning of the World Cup matches, India were facing criticism from all around owing to their poor show in Australia against the host and England. Analysis had to be revised thanks to disciplined bowling and the efforts to score big while batting first. Most of the equations at present are changed. It would be interesting to notice whether India continue to register wins in the slated matches or see some other outcomes.
