Devotees Throng Temples to Seek Maa Durga Blessing on 8th Day of Navratri

pujaNew Delhi, Friday, March 27 – As Durga Navratri entered into day 8 on Friday, people started to throng city temples after waking up to a bright & sunny day. In the auspicious nine-day festival, various roops of Hindu deity Maa Durga are worshipped. Before the onset of Navratri, temples of the national capital were decorated with colorful lights and flowers.

Prayers were offered to nine forms of the powerful Hindu goddess – Shailputri, Bhramcharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhiratri. Worshipers stood in long queue to get a glimpse of Durga idols in the midst of tight security.

Arrangements were made to avoid any sort of mishap. Men and women devotees moved in separate lines for darshan, which is considered a great source of bringing peace, love, success and health in life.

Shopkeepers were happy to see people swarming their place during Chaitra Navratri. Demand for red chunaris in different sizes, coconut, fruits and others materials used for puja soared. Many observed fast on ashtami and performed ‘kanya pujan’ ritual. Security arrangements were up at Mansa Devi, Vaishno Devi, Vindhyavasini Dham too, to make sure nothing goes wrong even if hundreds of thousands of devotees visit the holy shrines during this period.

The occasion of Navratri was well utilized by people eying to buy car and useful equipments like microwaves, refrigerators and LED TV sets thanks to huge discount offers. Leading food joints and restaurants grabbed eyeballs by introducing ‘Navratra special thali’ to treat taste buds with tasty satvik foods prepared with extreme cleanliness and fresh ingredients. Navdurga occasions ends on Saturday, March 28.
